SEN Track Preview: Friday best bets at Gosford

2021-01-15T09:40+11:00

Twilight racing in New South Wales takes place at Gosford with a seven-race program to be run and won.

Track is currently rated as a Good 4 with the weather fine and the rail is in the true position.

Race 1 Benchmark-64 (900m) @ 3:25pm

Kahaylaan

Former Tony & Calvin McEvoy Gelding returns to the track first-up as a three-year-old under the guidance of Peter & Paul Snowden. This may be a bit short for him first-up, but he has class and had a nice trial leading into this, where he just cruised to the line in a trial that Lashes went hard in front and burned them off. Looks a stack of speed on and I can see Tommy Berry riding this Gelding up the inside rail and if he gets the luck, he should be charging home late.

Suggested Bet: Back Kahaylaan to win ($3.20).

Race 2 Class 1 Handicap (1600m) @ 4:05pm

Sonic Tycoon

Brilliant winner on debut last start at Hawkesbury after sitting outside the lead and letting down nicely to win. This is much tougher than that race, but the way he was able to put the race away so quickly last start and running the last 600m in 33.99 should see him go very close here again. He showed he possesses a sharp turn of foot which gives him a great chance to make it back-to-back wins in this.

Suggested Bet: Back Sonic Tycoon to win ($2.90).

Race 6 Benchmark-64 (1200m) @ 6:40pm

Hinchbeast

Showed he had ability as a two-year-old, finishing behind some smart types including Acrophobic, Marboosha and Philizzy to name a few. He comes back to the track as a three-year-old after two quiet trials. He has a tough draw to overcome if he decides to roll forward, but he has been coming from midfield in his trials. If he goes back and gets cover, he could get a nice run into the race and he could be just simply a class above these.

Sedona

Think this four-year-old Gelding is way over the odds in this. He was a long way back when finishing ninth on a Heavy track at Warwick Farm behind Blondeau last Wednesday over the 1300m. He comes back on top of the ground here, where he performs best on, and last time he was on a Good track he was terrific when first-up behind El Cohete. Looks a strong tempo in this race, which should give him his chance to run on and I can see him charging into the finish late.

Suggested Bet: Back Hinchbeast to win ($4.60) and Sedona with a smaller win, larger place bet ($16 win, $4.20 place).

Race 7 Fillies & Mares Benchmark-64 (1200m) @ 7:15pm

Satin Ruby

She was superb first-up when she came from back in the field to finish second to Stormy Rock, who has since run second to Blondeau in strong grade, at Newcastle over the 1300m. Steps back 100m here but that should not be much of an issue with her winning at the distance in New Zealand and finishing second to Dancing Gidget on her Australian debut over the 1250m. She looks a terrific chance to finish off the program with a collect.

Suggested Bet: Back Satin Ruby each-way ($5 win, $2 place).
