The only question mark hanging over reigning premiers Richmond

2021-01-28T10:29+11:00

Richmond looks poised to challenge for another flag this season.

The Tigers overcame off-field dramas in their Gold Coast hub to make it back-to-back premierships in 2020, cementing their status as one of the greatest teams of the modern era.

Former AFL recruiter Matt Rendell says the reigning premiers will contend once again in 2021, but raised one question mark hanging over the club that relates to another off-field controversy involving coach Damien Hardwick.

“They’re not too old,” Rendell told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.

“Their top five or six, and we all know who they are, are in their late 20s and early 30s, but they’re still not an old team and they’ve got plenty left in them.

“You know how they’re going to play. You know what they’re going to do and they’re going to be exciting again.

“There’s only question mark over the club and that’s any fallout from the (Damien) Hardwick situation, which there could be.

“I think it’s a pretty mature club, mature players and I think they’ll be able to handle it, but you never know.”

It was revealed that Hardwick is in a relationship with a Richmond staff member after recently splitting with his wife Danielle.
