Chris Fagan's good news on Joe Daniher's pre-season

2021-01-29T13:06+11:00

Brisbane Lions recruit Joe Daniher has yet to miss a training session since signing with the Lions, according to coach Chris Fagan.

Daniher left Essendon as a restricted free agent at the end of 2020, 12 months after his failed trade request to Sydney.

Fagan said the forward hadn’t missed a beat since moving up north, while revealing none of his training sessions have had to be modified as a result of his chequred injury history.

“He’s been training with the group since day one. He hasn’t missed anything at all,” he said on SEN Breakfast.

“He hasn’t been modified so he’s training well and seems pretty happy at the moment.

“It’s just the warm weather that makes the body feel better, I think he was obviously on the mend towards the end of the year last year, he’s had a good break and had no setbacks at all and done every session.

“He seems to be enjoying himself and getting on well with his teammates.”

Injury-prone midfielder Nakia Cockatoo also opted to change clubs in the off-season, moving from Geelong to the Lions on a two-year deal.

Fagan sung the praises of Cockatoo, who was training uninhibited after embarking on a modified training program after Christmas.

“Nakia turned up (to train) in the middle of December,” he said.

“He too has done all the training, we’ve modified him a bit as he wasn’t able to do a lot of training before Christmas.

“You can easily see why Geelong were reluctant to let him go, he’s a powerful player who hopefully if we can keep him on the track then he’ll be able to have a good influence.”
