Star Panthers pair on the verge of inking new deals

2021-02-22T11:25+11:00

Penrith duo Jarome Luai and Stephen Critchton are set to commit to the club long term, according to Panthers deputy chairman Greg Alexander.

Joining Matt White on 1170 SEN Mornings, Alexander said it was only a matter of time until the pair were tied to the club for the foreseeable future.

“We are very close (to signing Luai and Crichton),” he said.

“Extremely close. I’m sure there will be announcements this week.”

Both players enjoyed breakout seasons in 2020, with Crichton scoring 17 tries and Luai bagging 23 try assists.

The signing of Crichton in particular will be welcomed by Panthers fans, after the 20-year-old originally refused to commit to the club at the end of last season.

Penrith open their 2021 campaign against the North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday March 13.
