The three coaches under the most pressure in 2021

2021-03-01T11:21+11:00

Nathan Buckley, Simon Goodwin and Leon Cameron are the three coaches under the most pressure in 2021, according to Garry Lyon.

Buckley’s Collingwood contract expires at the end of this season, while Goodwin and Cameron are contracted to Melbourne and GWS respectively until the end of 2022.

The Magpies, Demons and Giants are all expected to push for a finals berth, but doubts linger over their premiership credentials.

“Who do you think is the coach under the most pressure this year?” Watson asked on SEN Breakfast.

Lyon replied: “Buckley, Goodwin and Cameron.”

Despite inking a two-year deal last year, Watson thinks Cameron could feel the heat if the Giants' struggles continue.

“Leon Cameron’s got a contract, he just signed a two-year deal,” Watson said.

“But within every coach’s contract now there’s a termination time and settlement period. I think they would have to pay him out for six months.

“Even though he has just signed another two-year deal he would probably still be under the pump.”

Collingwood were eliminated at the semi-final stage last season after finishing the home and away campaign in eighth position.

Melbourne and GWS failed to make the finals in 2020.
