The footy narrative Kane Cornes has already had enough of

2021-03-04T10:27+11:00

Kane Cornes is sick of the narrative coming out of Adelaide, referencing their final six weeks of the 2020 season.

The Crows went winless for the majority of the season before beating Hawthorn in Round 15, GWS in Round 16 and Carlton in Round 17.

Cornes has had enough of the club and coach Matthew Nicks referencing end of last year when hyping up what Adelaide can achieve in 2021.

“Do you know what I’m going to get really sick of, and I’m already starting to get sick of it? If (Adelaide) keeps bringing up the last six weeks of last season,” Cornes told SEN SA Breakfast.

“How many times has that been referenced this year?

“I’ll tell you what happened in the last six weeks of last season. They lost to the Western Bulldogs by 57 and got smashed in that game. It was probably their worst performance of the year.

“They got beaten by 28 against Geelong, yes, they were competitive and a goal down at half-time – they still lost by 28 at home.

“They beat a Hawthorn side for their first win of the year by 35 points who basically had everyone out.

“They beat GWS in their best performance of the year by two goals and Carlton and then they lost to Richmond by 44 points.

“Can we quit it with references to the last six rounds of last year. It’s a new season, let’s judge you for the now and not what you did in the last six weeks of last season because it wasn’t that good.

“It wasn’t. I’ve heard Matthew Nicks probably reference the last six weeks of last season maybe 20 times this pre-season already. Enough now. It’s a new season, let’s move on.”

Adelaide takes on Port Adelaide this week in the AAMI Community Series, before hosting Geelong in Round 1.
