Richmond defender David Astbury has avoided suspension for an elbow to the face of Carlton’s Lachie Plowman.
The incident occurred in the third quarter of the game and resulted in a goal for the Blues.
The MRO graded the strike as careless, low impact and high contact, meaning he escapes with a $2000 fine.
Carlton’s Tom Williamson was also fined $2000 engaging in rough conduct with Jake Aarts.
Astbury is free to take on Hawthorn in Round 2.
