Dangerfield learns MRO fate after bump on Adelaide defender

2021-03-21T16:40+11:00

Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield has been sent straight to the tribunal by the Match Review Officer for his bump on Adelaide defender Jake Kelly.

The Brownlow medallist will face the tribunal this week and faces a spell on the sidelines for the bump that was graded with 'severe' impact. He cannot accept an early plea.

Kelly was stretchered from the field after Dangerfield elected to bump and a head clash ensued.

The bump was classed as careless, high contact and severe impact, and he could miss three games for the incident.

Kelly will be forced to miss Adelaide’s Round 2 clash with Sydney under the new AFL protocol which keeps players off the field for at least 12 days post-concussion.
