Sydney Swans coach John Longmire has confirmed Lance Franklin will make his AFL return in Saturday afternoon’s clash against Adelaide.
The 34-year-old, who is entering his seventh year of his bumper nine-year contract, hasn’t played senior football since the final round of the 2019 season.
But after impressing in a practice match on Sunday, Longmire said he’s done enough to earn senior selection.
“We expect Lance (Franklin) to play this week,” he told reporters on Monday afternoon.
“He’s done a lot of work and he’s been training for quite a while so it will be good to get him back in the team.”
The Swans pulled off an upset victory over Brisbane on Saturday night, with first gamers Logan McDonald and Errol Gulden impressing.
