Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott has limped off the MCG after falling awkwardly in a marking contest in the second quarter of Thursday night’s clash against Carlton.
As Will Hoskin-Elliott leaped over the top to take a strong pack mark, Elliott fell across the top of the contest and appear to fall awkwardly on his ankle.
“I think he’s almost landed on his own ankle as he’s ghosted in front of the pack,” Nick Dal Santo said on AFL Nation.
Elliott had kicked two goals before the injury.
Trey Ruscoe, who was the club’s medical sub, was called into action.
Collingwood football boss Graham Wright later said he believed Elliott had sustained a sprained ankle.
“It’s a badly sprained ankle at this stage but he certainly has some awareness in his leg as well,” he said on Channel 7.
“He’ll get scanned tonight or tomorrow morning and we’ll know a bit more then.”
