“I think they’re better than 2004”: How far can Port Adelaide go this year?

2021-03-29T07:52+11:00

Port Adelaide sits atop the AFL ladder with a percentage of 181 after two games, smashing North Melbourne and Essendon to start the season.

They have added to their 2020 Preliminary Final side in the trade period and everything appears to be working so far.

Club great Kane Cornes believes we will find out exactly where they’re at across the next fortnight.

“I think we’ll get a good indication across the next two weeks. If Port Adelaide can go there (to Perth to face West Coast) and put up a good account for themselves and then they play Richmond in Round 4 on Friday night,” Cornes told SEN Breakfast.

Cornes however is incredibly bullish about them, saying they might just be better than the 2004 side that won the premiership.

“We’ll get a better indication, but right now I’m as excited as I’ve probably been since 2004 with any Port side, they do not a weakness on their list,” he said.

“I think they’re better than 2004.”

They take on the Eagles on Saturday night at Optus Stadium, host the Tigers, travel to the MCG to take on Carlton and host St Kilda in the next month.
