Tim Watson names small forward who he'd pick first in the competition

Tim Watson has named Tom Papley as the small forward he’d pick first in the competition, praising the Sydney star for what he brings to the table.

The 24-year-old is averaging 14 touches and two goals per match so far this season, as the Swans continue to impress with a 3-0 start to their 2021 campaign.

When asked by SEN Breakfast co-host Garry Lyon which small forward he’d pick first in a hypothetical team, Watson explained why Papley was top of his list.

“As much as I love watching Liam Ryan (West Coast forward) and Kossie Pickett (Melbourne forward) play, the one small forward I’d pick right now is Tom Papley,” the Essendon great said on SEN Breakfast.

“He’s been doing it now for over 12 months, he’s a goal threat and a score creator.

“He’s a pressure player and dangerous, he’s quick and smart and loves being involved in the game – I love what he brings when he’s involved in the game.

The Swans host Essendonat at the SCG on Thursday night fresh after a shock 45-point away win over reigning premiers Richmond.
