Veteran AFL recruiter Matt Rendell believes the Demons finally have the pieces in place to win the flag.
Melbourne has started the season 3-0 and faces a big test this weekend against Geelong.
“Melbourne can definitely win the flag,” Rendell told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.
“They were horribly unfit in 2019 and I reckon 2020. They look hungry, they look organised and I reckon they can definitely win the flag.”
Rendell is curious to see how the Demons balance their forward line, with Ben Brown and Sam Weideman closing in on returns.
“How well is the Gawn and Jackson (combination) working? Changing up there. It’s working so well, except for Gawn’s kicking for goal,” he said.
“It’s working so well that they’ve got Ben Brown and Sam Weideman coming back through the VFL this week, they can only put one in.
“You’ve got to keep that (Gawn and Jackson) combination going. You’ve got Bayley Fritsch up there as well.
“Their balance at the minute is fantastic. I reckon only one of them is going to get back in.”
