Justin Leppitsch believes Richmond assistant Adam Kingsley will be a senior coaching candidate soon enough.
Leppitsch worked with Kingsley as part of the Tigers’ current premiership era and has watched his development closely.
The 45-year-old played 170 games for Port Adelaide and served as an assistant coach at both the Power and St Kilda following his career, before joining Richmond for the 2019 season.
“He’s terrific. If you talk about wanting to be a senior coach, this guy studies, he goes overseas, he asks everything, he’ll leave no stone unturned to get a job,” Leppitsch told AFL Nation.
“So whoever gets him one day is going to be very lucky as a footy club because he’s a smart footy brain.
“I think going to Richmond is the best thing that ever happened to him.
“We talk about coaches that stay at one club for too long, he spent a long time at St Kilda and then he broke out, he took a year or two to change and adapt.
“What he’s learned is adaptability. So now he can go to another club that has a different culture and a different club and he’ll be able to make those changes.
“He’s got the wealth of experience now so I’d like to think his name will bob up in the next year or two.”
Kingsley currently looks after Richmond’s midfield and stoppages and was named the AFL Coaches Association’s Assistant Coach of the Year in 2015.
