Star Melbourne midfielder signs contract extension

2021-04-13T19:19+10:00

Clayton Oliver has signed a two-year contract extension, tying him to the club until at least the end of 2023.

The new contract will see Oliver become a restricted free agent at the end of the deal, which will expire after his eighth season at the Demons.

Oliver said it was an easy decision to make, praising the culture under head coach Simon Goodwin.

“The club’s running unbelievable at the moment – 4-0, couldn’t be in a better place,” Oliver said in a club statement.

“I was always going to sign on – I love all the boys here, love the staff, so it was an easy decision.”

The Demons take on Hawthorn at the MCG on Sunday, where they’ll be looking to make it five wins from five to start the 2021 season.
