How David Noble still has an impact in his son's footy

2021-04-14T16:46+10:00

Collingwood defender John Noble says his father and new North Melbourne coach John Noble still “tears apart my game” and helps him improve, despite his new role.

The Magpie said he recently caught up with his father for a coffee to talk through their respective roles and how things are going.

“We chat here and there about how each other is going. Different clubs, different situations we’re involved in, but he’s loving it, he’s thriving,” Noble told SEN’s Bob and Andy.

“He’s under no illusions of where they’re at and the mountain they’re climbing at the moment.

“They’re continuing to get better each week.

“I just had a coffee with him and we chewed the fat about and how things were going and if we can help each other in any way, whether it be a different perspective.

“We try and take our professional perspectives out of it, it’s more of a father and son conversation rather than the coach of an opposition club and that keeps the relationship healthy I think.

“He still watches (my games) when he can, he still tears apart my game and breaks it down for me.

“He’s incredible. He’s got an amazing work-life balance and he’s still involved with my footy as much as any father is.”
