Report: Reynolds could stay in Sydney as new suitor emerges

2021-04-14T10:00+10:00

The Cronulla Sharks have emerged as a potential suitor for South Sydney halfback Adam Reynolds.

The star number seven looks all but set to leave the Rabbitohs in search of a long-term deal with the North Queensland Cowboys and Brisbane Broncos open in their pursuit of the 30-year-old.

While open to moving north if it means securing his future, Channel Nine’s ‘The Mole’ is reporting that he may not have to leave Sydney with Cronulla entering the race for his signature.

Sharks halfback Shaun Johnson is out of contract while playmaker Chad Townsend has an option in his favour for 2022.

If Johnson and Townsend head elsewhere next season the club will face a severe lack of depth at the number seven position.

New coach Craig Fitzgibbon is set to be armed with over $3 million to spend in the market this off-season, the report expects the club to chase Reynolds.

It is believed that the Rabbitohs star would prefer to stay in Sydney for personal reasons and to avoid moving his young kids away from friends and family.
