Jennings and Edmund make their picks for Round 5

2021-04-16T12:02+10:00

Craig Jennings and Sam Edmund have taken a close look at the remainder of the Round 5 matches.

On SEN’s The Picks, Jennings and Edmund discussed what they believe could occur in the next eight games of footy.

(Remarkably, Jennings has tipped a draw!!)

Round 5 Picks

Odds supplied by Play Up

West Coast v Collingwood

Jennings says: “I don’t give Collingwood any chance. I think West Coast are going to win and they’re going to win big.

“I think the West Coast loss last weekend will create more wins going forward and I think we’ll see that on Friday night.”

Jennings’ pick: West Coast at the line (-20.5).

Sydney v GWS

Jennings says: “This is the most interesting game for me.

“I’m a big rap for Sydney. I feel like GWS, there are a few signs last weekend that they are starting to adapt and adjust.

“I’m pretty bullish on GWS in a bit of an upset.”

Jennings’ pick: Giants to win.

Western Bulldogs v Gold Coast

Jennings says: “The Bulldogs have great midfield depth and I love the combination of Stefan Martin and Tim English.

“For Gold Coast, my expectations are a little higher of them than last year. What they do at their best is make it a real arm wrestle.

“The Bulldogs at some point will break them. That margin (37.5) is pretty big.

“I think the Bulldogs will get that done but there will be some discomfort there because Gold Coast can make it tough for you.”

Jennings’ pick: Bulldogs at the line (-37.5).

Brisbane v Essendon

Jennings says: “I’ll think the Lions will smash that (24.5 line). I think this is 10 goals for Brisbane.

“I’m very confident on them up there. It’s time that they got serious. They’ve been semi slow, a little bit soft around the footy and I don’t think that is something the coach will stand for.

“I love what Essendon are doing. I love their young players and I hope that they don’t get over-coached.

“I feel like expectations aren’t overly high on the Bombers this year. For now, I’d just like to see the young players, who look outstanding, learn the game at their pace.

“It’s time for Brisbane to get serious and put them to the sword. I expect them to get it done in a big way.”

Jennings’ pick: Lions at the line (-24.5).

Carlton v Port Adelaide

Jennings says: “I’ve sort of flip-flopped on this one.

“I think Carlton are going to be a good team. They’re just working their way through like all teams that come from the bottom and work their way up.

“I’m very positive on the Blues. I was going to tip them in an upset but the line is only 5.5 points.

“I was thinking maybe Port Adelaide off the Richmond game, mentally and physically fatigued and I was trying to find ways (to get them beaten), but I think Port will get it done.”

Jennings’ pick: Power at the line (-5.5).

Edmund’s pick: Blues at the line (+5.5).

Adelaide v Fremantle

Jennings says: “I’m finding this game a real battle. I think this game is going to be a draw.

“These two teams, their strengths and weaknesses just balance things out.

“It’s hard to sneak under the radar when you’re 3-1 so Freo will put some good ‘oppo’ time into them and I’m pretty confident that will even things out.

“I’m going a draw.”

Jennings’ pick: Draw.

Hawthorn v Melbourne

Jennings says: “Dees by 10 goals. Melbourne will win this one very, very comfortably.

“Melbourne have got so many good players. I’m liking everything they’re doing.

“I think they win this one and they win it big time.”

Jennings’ pick: Demons at the line (-24.5).

Geelong v North Melbourne

Jennings says: “Very comfortable on the Cats.

“The difference with Dangerfield in that team is huge. North Melbourne are just where they’re at.”

Jennings’ pick: Cats at the line (-56.5).

Edmund’s pick: Cats at the line (-56.5).

All Jennings’ picks in a multi: $136

(Leaving out the draw).
