Melbourne Victory and coach Grant Brebner have parted ways in the wake of the club’s disastrous 7-0 derby loss to Melbourne City on Saturday night.
Socceroos striker Jamie Maclaren scored five goals in the rout at AAMI Park, with the loss being Victory’s 11th from 16 games this season.
The result means Victory has conceded 13 goals in their last two games against their crosstown rivals.
The embattled coach fronted the media after the defeat, alongside Victory chairman Anthony Di Pietro.
“Sadly my expectations and the club's expectations are higher, this club will go on and come back higher,” Brebner said post-game.
