Matthew Lloyd has named how he sees the top eight and finals shaping up after the opening six rounds.
The Essendon champion has the Swans holding onto their spot in the eight, with Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs playing off in the Grand Final.
Lloyd added that he is basing this off what we have seen so far and projecting ahead.
“In eighth I’m going to back the Swans to hang on. Just in front of the Fremantle Dockers,” Lloyd told Sportsday.
“In seventh, I think the Eagles win enough games, but listening to Adam Simpson and their injuries, they’re going to have 12 out of their best side but they can win enough games at home.
“In sixth, they may embarrass me and get much higher, but the Brisbane Lions. They could easily still get to top four, but I’ve got them sixth at the moment.
“In fifth I’ve got the Tigers. I think it’s very hard to be up for this long. They’ll win plenty of games. We’ve seen it with Brisbane and Hawthorn, to be up for this long is very difficult.
“I’ve got at fourth the Demons. I think they’ll finish fourth. I think Geelong, I wouldn’t have said this seven days ago, but Geelong with Jeremy Cameron and a few others coming back.
“What they’ve done well is they still win games when they’re playing poorly. They’ve still been able to get themselves to 4-2 and they’ve only played one good game.
“(The premier is) Port Adelaide, but I say it with trepidation because when I get to a Melbourne team versus an interstate team, they don’t stand up too often on Grand Final day.
“I’m backing this mob after last year. They’ve added Aliir Aliir and Orazio Fantasia, I think their ball movement is better.
“Karl Amon has gone to a new level so I think they can do it.
“Mitch Georgiades, Todd Marshall and Charlie Dixon, maybe overpower the Bulldogs’ smaller defence on Grand Final day.”
