Geelong captain comments on omission of young gun

2021-05-06T19:26+10:00

Geelong captain Joel Selwood hopes Jordan Clark continues to “find his way” as a senior footballer after he was dropped for the second time in 2021.

The versatile 20-year-old was left out of the Cats’ side to face Richmond on Friday night, which will be first time the two sides have faced off against each other since last year’s Grand Final.

Selwood said Clark had played multiple positions throughout the season so far and was in need of some continuity in his game.

“(Jordan Clark) just needs to continue to find his way,” he said on Sportsday.

“He’s a 20-year-old kid we’re talking about that needs a bit of continuity about how he’s going about it.

“We’ve had him on a wing, played him up forward a little bit too and then last week we had to play him down back.

“I’m hopeful he plays well (in the VFL).”

Clark has averaged 13 touches and three marks from the six games he’s featured in throughout the season.

Geelong recalled Sam Simpson and Shaun Higgins for the highly-anticipated Grand Final rematch, while Quinton Narkle (omitted) and Gryan Miers (illness) as well as Clark won’t play in the game.
