Adam Treloar names the two best players he's played with

2021-05-12T19:21+10:00

Star Western Bulldogs midfielder Adam Treloar says Marcus Bontempelli and Scott Pendlebury are the two best players he's played with at this point in his career.

Treloar spent five seasons at Collingwood as a teammate of Pendelbury’s before his highly-publicised moved to the Dogs at the end of last season.

Now sharing a locker room with Bontempelli, Treloar said he’s gained an extra layer of respect for the Dogs captain as a result of being his teammate.

“(Marcus Bontempelli) is right up there as one of the best players I’ve ever played with,” he said on Sportsday.

‘He’s probably right there with (former teammate Scott Pendlebury), I know how good Toby Greene is, but I probably wasn’t at the Giants when he was the best small forward in the game.

“I was fortunate to play with Scott Pendlebury and now I’m witnessing (Bontempelli) up close, you always have mutual respect for so many players and the way they go about it from afar, but you don’t appreciate how good they are until you work with them up close.

“Seeing him actually go to work and the way he leads the footy club, he hasn’t even come into his prime and still has areas on his game where he can improve which is really scary.

“He’s probably a top five player in the competition and when we really needed someone to put us on our back, he was there in that third quarter (against Carlton on Sunday).

“He’s an absolute star. I think him and Pendles will be the two best players I well and truly have played with and the most exciting thing is he has a lot more (levels) to go, I’m thoroughly enjoying watching him up close."
