Victorian AFL clubs placed into lockdown

2021-05-26T12:45+10:00

The AFL has put every Victorian club in lockdown for the next seven days.

It can be revealed that the league this afternoon told the state’s 10 clubs it was taking the step to safeguard the competition in the face of Melbourne’s growing covid cluster.

The clubs were told there can’t be any crossover between their AFL and VFL programs at their training base, including staff as well as players.

Players will also be told by club officials that there will be only four reasons to leave their home – exercise, obtain necessary goods, care or compassionate reasons or other essential reasons like getting petrol or going to the post office.

Players will also not be allowed visitors unless they are there for emergency, compassionate, care or welfare reasons.
