West Coast could be about to throw former first-round draft pick Jarrod Garlett a lifeline, after convincing him to nominate for the mid-season draft.

According to a report in The West Australian on Saturday, a phone call from the Eagles convinced the former Blue and Sun to join over 500 players in nominating for the June 2 draft.

The 25-year-old was taken with pick 14 in the 2014 National Draft, playing 17 games for Gold Coast over two years.

After being delisted, he joined Carlton with a late pick in the 2017 draft and went on to feature for the club on 13 occasions over two seasons.

Garlett has recently being played local footy in Perth for Railways in the Great Northern Football League, kicking 11 goals in four games.

According to the report, he’s set to feature for West Coast’s WAFL side this weekend ahead of next Wednesday’s mid-season draft.
