QLD and NSW name Origin squads ahead of Game 1

Both Queensland and New South Wales have named their State of Origin squads for Game 1 ahead of the series opener on Wednesday week.

The Maroons have named a 20-man squad, with concerns over AJ Brimson and Felise Kaufusi’s fitness, while the fully fit Blues have named a 19-man group.

Both squads come in relatively as expected, with Parramatta hooker Reed Mahoney expected to make his Origin debut for Queensland, while Jarome Luai will line up in the halves for the first time for New South Wales.
