Report: Former Essendon-listed ruckman on Suns radar

2021-05-31T15:03+10:00

The Gold Coast Suns have been forced into a late scramble ahead of Wednesday night’s mid-season rookie draft.

AFL Media’s Mitch Cleary is reporting that Stuart Dew’s Suns are considering a move for former Essendon-listed ruckman Fraser Thurlow as they attempt to fill the void in their big man department.

The interest in Thurlow has come after Norwood’s Michael Knoll, who they were circling, failed a medical relating to a PCL injury in his knee.

Thurlow was on the Bombers’ list back in 2014 but never played a senior game in the red and black.

The 28-year-old has been in fine form for Queensland club Southport in 2021, averaging 31 hit-outs, 14 disposals, six marks and has kicked eight goals across five games in the VFL/East Coast league.

Others the Suns are showing interest in include former Geelong and Port Adelaide tall Wylie Buzza and Oakleigh Chargers product Ned Moyle who has played three games for Collingwood’s VFL side this season.
