"Everything should be on the table": Should Carlton and Cripps part ways?

2021-06-08T07:33+10:00

Matthew Lloyd believes Carlton should consider trading Patrick Cripps if the right offer presents itself.

Cripps, despite reports, is yet to re-sign with the Blues, and has had an average year by his lofty standards.

Lloyd wonders whether it may be in the best interests of both parties to part ways.

“I’ve been there when you’re out of finals at the halfway point with morale, it’s hard,” Lloyd told Sportsday.

“I was part of some sides where the morale was lost at the halfway point and I got to the point where I was playing for personal pride at times. It’s the worst place to be.

“I think everything should be on the table, including the captains.

“Patrick Cripps, what does he want? Is he worth what he’s asking for? Could we potentially get two players for that?

“I look at Joe Daniher and Orazio Fantasia and Adam Saad and Essendon is in a better spot now.”

Carlton sits 14th on the ladder at the bye, three games out of the top eight.

Cripps has now had two seasons below his best, down in disposals, tackles and clearances from 2019, but up in clangers.
