If Bowman is to win this Saturday’s JJ Atkins Stakes on Port Louis, he will join the exclusive “century club”.
Damien Oliver, George Moore and Jim Cassidy are the only jockeys to have ridden 100 or more Group 1 wins.
Speaking with SEN Track’s Andrew Bensley, the gun hoop reflects on his remarkable career and a special horse called Winx.
“I’ve had an amazing journey and have ridden some amazing horses for some amazing people,” he said.
“I’m very proud and am hoping I can reach the 100 this Saturday.”
Bowman and Winx partnered to a world record 25 Group 1 wins.
“One horse equates for a quarter of those Group 1 wins, so I guess I have to thank her.
“How lucky am I to have partnered with the amazing Winx.”
Co-trainer of Port Louis, Ciaron Maher, spoke with Bensley on Tuesday morning about his chances in Saturday’s Group 1.
“I saw some good things this morning at trackwork, I’m very happy,” Maher said.
“If the barrier gods are in our favour, we’ll go very close.
“It’d be nice for Hughy, he’s a good mate and we’ve had a great association.”
Bowman has riden 94 Group 1s in Australia, four in Hong Kong and one in Japan.
