Was a nice return by this Press Statement gelding 1st up when chasing what I think is a smart one in Jump The Broom at Geelong. Jumped well to take up a position on the rails, followed the winner through and although was no match his late work was very good, recording the clear fastest last 200m split.
The step to 1400m now is in his favour and from the middle draw, Damien Thornton can find a spot midfield before working to the middle and allowing him to work through his gears. The wet track also holds no fears.
Bendigo Race 9 - 14. LIVINGSTONE FALLS ($1.85)
Super return from this horse 1st up at Geelong over the unsuitable 1300m, getting back in a slowly run race (seven lengths below benchmark to the 600m), before savaging the line late to record the fastest last 400/200m of the meeting.
The market was very warm to her there ($3.70-$2.80) so she's clearly come back well. Can settle much closer on this occasion from the better draw and is another horse that won't be deterred by any cut in the ground. Pace looks genuine here so she'll get her chance to collar them late.
