“We learned a lot from the performance played in front of us,” Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire told reporters post-game.

“Melbourne have set a standard across the competition for quite some time, and we know exactly what it is.

“We just got blown off the park to start with. Everything just went against us, but you've got to be able to unrest that and stop the momentum.

“They (the players) are very disappointed and gutted, obviously.

“Melbourne jumped us at the start and, as we know, they can be fairly ruthless. It was a pretty tough night for all of us.”

Storm trio Brandon Smith (corked calf), Reimis Smith (ankle sprain) and Tom Eisenhuth (dislocated elbow) all picked up injuries in the 50-point win.

Other results on Saturday saw the Knights beat the Warriors 10-6 and the Dragons down the Raiders 22-20.
