Injured Essendon midfielder Andrew McGrath is amongst several AFL players and officials caught up in the COVID chaos currently gripping the nation.
As first reported by Channel 9’s Alicia Muling, McGrath is one of several players across the competition who has been forced to undergo a test and isolate for 14 days after he attended a Rugby international between the Wallabies and France at AAMI Park last week.
Essendon is currently in Queensland ahead of their clash against North Melbourne at Metricon Stadium on Sunday, with McGrath part of the travelling party.
Fox Footy’s Tom Morris later reported that the Bombers have two further staff in hard lockdown, while North Melbourne also has a player who will be forced to quarantine for two weeks.
According to Morris, several Sydney Swans employees are also in isolation.
It’s my understanding Essendon star Andy McGrath is one of the players in hard lockdown @9NewsMelb @9NewsAUS

Essendon has one player and two staff and North Melbourne has one player in hard lockdown after they visited re-graded tier 1 sights in Victoria before flying north. Sydney also has an employee in lockdown.
