Key Saint to miss Eagles clash after attending Tier 1 exposure site

Rowan Marshall will miss St Kilda’s Round 19 match against West Coast after he attended a Tier 1 exposure site last week.

Marshall and Saints teammate Darragh Joyce visited the Precinct Bar and Restaurant for approximately 45 minutes before attending the Australia-France rugby match at AAMI Park.

The Precinct Bar was recently added to the Victorian Government’s exposure site list.

Marshall will need to self-isolate for 14 days, meaning he will be unavailable to face the Eagles on Saturday.

St Kilda released the following statement: “The club informed the AFL, who in turn contacted the relevant Western Australian authorities.

“Upon advice from the Western Australian Government, Marshall will continue his self-isolation with arrangements currently being made for him to return to Victoria when possible.

“At this stage, the timings of his isolation period will mean he is available for Round 20.

“Due to the protocols and testing regime required by the Western Australian Government, prior to and since arriving in the State, the remainder of the St Kilda Football Club travelling party will be able to continue training in accordance with the quarantine directions provided by the Western Australian Police.”

St Kilda Chief Operating Officer Simon Lethlean says players and staff - including Marshall and Joyce - have all been tested three times in the past week and returned negative results.

“It meant last night at about 8pm Perth time we all had to isolate in our rooms until further notice,” Lethlean told SEN's Bob and Andy.

“We had our breakfast delivered to the door and didn’t get out until about an hour ago once Western Australia authorities had a chance to assess the protocols we’d been under.

“We’ve all had three tests since that time and all members of the travelling party had been negative – including Rowan.”

It's a big blow for the Saints who must beat the Eagles to keep their finals hopes alive.
