The "unfortunate" aspect of Hawthorn situation according to Jordan Lewis

2021-07-22T10:23+10:00

Four-time premiership Hawk Jordan Lewis is concerned by the leaks coming out of his old club to the media.

It comes after reports from Caroline Wilson regarding a mediation session held between Alastair Clarkson, Sam Mitchell and Leading Teams regarding the succession plan.

Mitchell chose to front the media on Wednesday to provide his perspective on the situation, denying reports of a rift with the veteran coach.

Lewis admits he is worried about the evident leaks coming out of the club, saying things have changed since his time at the club.

“The interest with me and the unfortunate part is the stuff that is leaking from that football club. There’s clearly information coming out. That is clear,” Lewis told SEN Breakfast.

“It has been a football club for a long period of time, certainly in my time there, it was watertight.

“Whether it’s true or untrue the stuff that’s coming out, for me it’s an issue.”

Lewis expects there to be some ups and downs early on for Mitchell as part of the natural handover.

“There will be a transition period. There’ll be players at that football club right now that for any reason who might not want to play for Sam Mitchell and that happens at football clubs, so there will be a transition period,” Lewis said.

“Right now, it seems to be that the decision has been made and the issue isn’t with Alastair and Sam, I think the bigger issue is with Clarkson and the Hawthorn board.”
