Callum Mills provides insight into sudden lockdown and what he's missing

2021-07-23T11:52+10:00

Sydney Swans' Callum Mills alongside his three teammates are finding their quarantine “slow” after attending a COVID-19 Melbourne exposure site.

The four players are currently completing their required quarantine in an Airbnb scenario organised by both the club and the AFL.

“We’re actually in a house, in quarantine, in Broadbreach,” he said on Sportsday.

“We’re with the lockdown boys, we were able to get a house now, which is nice. We’re in lockdown in the house obviously, (we) can’t move anywhere."

“The club and the AFL organised it all and here we are luckily,” he said.

Despite being able to resume training after receiving some equipment, the boys are turning into “different creatures” as they attempt to fill in time to get through the “slow” quarantine process.

“You turn into different creatures when you go into isolation. We’re just filling in time, don’t really know how, but it’s going slow,” he said.

On top of this, Mills and his teammates had to watch their side’s incredible 61-point turnaround against GWS on TV, after being forced out minutes before their on field warm up.

“It was really weird to be honest. We got told about three minutes before our normal on-field warm up,” he said.

“We got pulled into the coaches room and (they) said you’re a chance not to be playing, and then judging on Charlie and Horse’s faces they were serious.

“So we were a bit shocked, but the best thing is that we got the win.

“It was a pretty annoying experience to be honest, but the fact that the boys got on with it and got a win made everything a lot easier.”

Mills is not only looking forward to returning to his in form teammates, but also a good coffee, which he has sorely missed while being in quarantine.

“Bar freedom, coffee is a big one … extra hot flat white,” he said.
