Fremantle coach comments on Rory Lobb trade speculation

2021-07-23T15:47+10:00

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir has provided an update on in-demand forward Rory Lobb.

The big man has two years to run on his contract with the Dockers, but has been linked with a move out of the club.

Gold Coast has been named as a potential suitor for Lobb, who has a deal with Freo worth reportedly $700,000 per season.

Longmuir made it clear that 28-year-old remains a required player.

“It’s obviously disappointing to be out there. Rory’s in a totally different situation to (Adam Cerra). Rory’s got two years left on his contract,” Longmuir told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.

“We see him as a vital part of our football club and we’ll work with him as best we can to make sure he feels like a valued part of our football club.

“That’s probably where it’s at in my mind. He’s got two years to go, he’s a wanted player and that’s where it sits for me.”

Lobb is set to miss with an ankle injury, but fellow ruckman Sean Darcy will likely get up to face Gold Coast this weekend.

“We think Sean will get up. We’re really confident with that,” Longmuir said.

“We’ll tick it off at our captain’s run when we get over to Metricon, but we’re pretty confident he’ll get up.”
