Leading trainer Ben Hayes will be keeping his options open with talented four-year-old Aysar who will be looking to notch up his first Group win this preparation.
The colt will resume in Saturday’s Group 3 Aurie’s Star over 1200m at Flemington.
“He’s fantastic, very happy with him,” Hayes said on SEN Track’s Bensley.
“He’s had two jumpouts, and he went really well, we had Jamie Kah come out to the farm and rode him, and she was really pleased with the way he went.”
Aysar, who has run second four times from six attempts at Group level, will be targeted towards the feature sprinting races this spring.
“We’re probably going to keep him to more sprinting ranges this year, if he is to be able to win Group Ones, the Golden Eagle will always be in the back of our mind,” Hayes added.
“This preparation his temperament is a lot better and hopefully he’s matured mentally just a little bit.
“He’s got high ability and he’s shown he can sprint fresh well so I’m expecting him to run a really nice race.”
Aysar is currently rated an $8 chance to take out Saturday’s feature at Flemington.
