Melbourne’s Jack Viney has been handed a two-match suspension for serious misconduct at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night.
Viney was referred straight to the Tribunal after an ugly incident with Gold Coast defender Sam Collins during Sunday’s match at Marvel Stadium.
Vision emerged on Monday of the Demons midfielder pinning his elbow into Collins’ throat region while he was lying on the ground.
Essendon great Tim Watson labelled Viney’s actions “a completely unacceptable non-football act”.
The ex-Demons captain will now miss upcoming games against West Coast (away), and Adelaide.
