Out of contract Saint could be a good fit for Blues midfield

St Kilda duo Luke Dunstan and Jack Billings are more likely than not to depart the club at the end of the year, according to a report.

Fox Footy is reporting that the Billings has interest from a team like Port Adelaide, while Dunstan has been put up for trade before.

Tim Watson believes Dunstan could be a good fit in Carlton’s midfield.

“That also goes to the players you have at your disposal as a football club. In terms of the guys who haven’t got great leg speed, aren’t great tearaway split type players from stoppages, but then can’t spread quickly enough, you’ve got to have the right combination or somebody is going to be left out,” Watson told SEN Breakfast.

“To somebody else, and I think Carlton could be one of those clubs, he could be a key attribute to their midfield mix because of what he can do inside.”

Dunstan has been in good form, cementing a spot in the St Kilda midfield across the second-half of the season. He has averaged 26 disposals and six clearances per game this year.

Garry Lyon wonders whether the 26-year-old wants out given he has been used as trade bait before.

“He’s just demanded he gets back into that side by his performances, that’s why I was surprised to see his name mentioned by Tom Morris that he might head elsewhere,” Lyon said.

“Maybe he’s thought ‘bugger you, if that’s what you’ve told me I’ll stick it up your nostrils’.”
