North Melbourne free agent “gettable for the right price”

North Melbourne’s Trent Dumont is seen as a “gettable” trade target for rival clubs, reports SEN’s Sam Edmund.

Dumont, who has played 111 games for the Kangaroos since debuting in 2015, is coming out of contract at Arden Street and is eligible for unrestricted free agency.

Could a move home to South Australia be on the cards for the 26-year-old midfielder?

“With Tom Rockliff retiring, I wonder if it could open the door for a recruit at the Power from North Melbourne?” Edmund told SEN’s Whateley.

“Trent Dumont is an unrestricted free agent, he still hasn’t signed to stay at Arden Street, he was dropped from the club’s leadership group in the pre-season, then he had a calf injury which delayed his start to the season, but he has played every week since Round 9.

“He's very much gettable for the right price.

“He got some nibbles last year, Essendon have been linked before, but I just wonder if the interest will come from the Power this time around.

“He’s South Australian, his family is there, he does have a link to Port in the form of Orazio Fantasia – the pair of them played in a Norwood premiership in 2013 under a current assistant coach at Port Adelaide in Nathan Bassett.

“Watch this space on Trent Dumont.”

Dumont is averaging 18.3 disposals and 5.4 marks from 12 senior matches in 2021.

He was selected by the Kangaroos with pick No.30 in the 2013 National Draft.
