Teague’s manager slams “pretty grubby” Lyon comments

2021-08-21T10:05+10:00

David Teague’s manager Liam Pickering has been left incensed by Ross Lyon commenting on his potential links to Carlton’s head coaching position.

The Blues are expected to publicly release the findings of their club review following their final game of the season against GWS on Saturday night, where it’s expected the future of Teague as well as a number of other officials will be clarified.

After Pickering slammed media commentary around Teague last week, he’s taken aim at Lyon’s “grubby” commentary on Wednesday night’s edition of Footy Classified, where he declared publicly for the first time that he would be open to taking the role.

“I spoke to Carlton this week (to seek clarity on David Teague’s future) and they didn’t have an answer,” he said on Off The Bench.

“They said we have to wait for a review, apparently they have a meeting on Sunday or Monday and then they’ll make the call. The silence is deafening.

“We have blokes going on television on Wednesday night jockeying for his job. I don’t know what that was from Ross Lyon, it was like a job interview to me. It was pretty grubby.

“I thought it was a grubby thing, it was a set-up interview. It was pretty poor really.

“I am 100 per cent (sure Ross Lyon has) had dialogue with Carlton already, he was talking very smugly the other night. He didn’t want to be disrespectful to David Teague and then went on a five-minute rant about why he’d be a great man for the job.

“I get angrier at this stuff than (David) Teague does, I don’t think you treat people the way he’s been treated this year. It’s poor.”
