Highly-rated Richmond official approached by rival clubs

2021-08-31T08:11+10:00

Highly-rated Richmond official Blair Hartley has been approached by rival clubs eager to prise him out of Punt Road.

Hartley has been pivotal in the Tigers’ emergence as a premiership powerhouse. He was list manager for a decade before assuming the role of general manager – football talent in a 2019 footy department re-structure that saw Tim Livingstone appointed general manager – football performance.

North Melbourne and Carlton have both sounded out Hartley. Gold Coast would also be interested in securing his services but are aware he is entrenched with his family in Victoria.

The Kangaroos are re-structuring their football department and looking for a general manager - football performance.

North’s current GM of football, Brady Rawlings, will become general manager – football talent under a new structure adopted by many clubs in a bid to lighten the load on club football chiefs.

The Roos also sounded out St Kilda’s David Rath, but he too will stay put, as the Saints’ head of football program.

Blues’ head of football Brad Lloyd survived the club’s much-scrutinised football department review. But that two-month review made 20 recommendations that the club is now acting upon.

Outgoing Geelong CEO Brian Cook has been approached by the Blues, who also need to fill several assistant coaching positions.
