Brisbane GM of Football Danny Daly has commented on a report suggesting Brownlow Medallist Lachie Neale is weighing up requesting a trade back to Fremantle.
The stunning report, which surfaced on Sunday night, stated that Neale and his partner wish to raise their family in Perth and return to the Dockers, where the 28-year-old started his career.
This is despite having two years to run on his contract.
Daly said the club would release a statement on Monday afternoon, but added that they were not aware of Neale’s desire to head back to Perth.
“I can’t make any comments because I haven’t spoken to Lachie. I think the club will come out and make a statement sometime this afternoon once we’ve had a chance to speak to Lachie and work through it,” Daly told Radio TAB in Brisbane
“It’s all news to us. As far as we’re concerned, he’s got two years of his contract left and that’s where it is at.”
The Lions’ 2021 season is over after going down to the Western Bulldogs by one point in Saturday night’s Semi Final at the Gabba.
