The steep asking price Freo would demand from Melbourne for Cerra

Fremantle has audaciously asked Melbourne for rising star Luke Jackson in any possible trade for Adam Cerra, according to Sportsday co-host Sam McClure.

SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund revealed on Wednesday morning that Melbourne were making a play for Cerra, who has requested a trade back to Victoria.

While Carlton is still widely seem at the frontrunner to secure his services, McClure said Cerra was left impressed by the Demons’ proposal.

“Simon Goodwin, Alan Richardson and Melbourne list manager Tim Lamb were part of the presentation and (Adam Cerra) was seen to be very impressed,” he said on Sportsday.

“Melbourne can pay Cerra both money and contract length that Carlton can but there’s a problem – (Fremantle) want Luke Jackson (in return). He was born in Fremantle, played for East Fremantle and has dominated since (going to the Demons).

“This is Fremantle’s way of saying that if you want to come and take one of our young stars…I think pick six would land up getting the deal over the line because it might land up getting them Lachie Neale.

“I think he’ll end up at Carlton, but Melbourne has impressed (Cerra) here.”

The 21-year-old played 18 games for the Dockers this year, averaging just over 23 touches and five marks.
