Australian guard Dante Exum is reportedly set to return to the Houston Rockets for the upcoming NBA season.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania is reporting that the two parties are nearing a deal.

Exum played in 24 games for the Rockets last season before another season-ending injury crippled him.

The 26-year-old has been cruelled by injuries since entering the league in 2014.

Exum showed what he was capable of in Tokyo, playing a key role for Australia in their historic bronze medal winning performance.

He served as a defence first point guard across the tournament, but was particularly crucial in the bronze medal game.

The Rockets hit rock bottom last season after trading away James Harden, ultimately ending up with the second pick in the NBA Draft.

They drafted top prospect Jalen Green, to build around a roster including John Wall, Christian Wood and Eric Gordon.
