Quinton Narkle is poised to stay at Geelong, despite another season of speculation over his playing future.
Narkle has played only 33 games in five seasons at the Cats, but despite flashes of brilliance has been kept on the fringes of a side that has remained in premiership contention.
The out-of-contract midfielder’s friendship with Richmond star Shai Bolton, who like Narkle is managed by Ralph Carr, has led to ongoing speculation he could join the Tigers.
But while rival clubs have enquired about Narkle, Carr told SEN.com.au his client was likely to stay at GMHBA Stadium.
“To be totally transparent, we’re working through a deal (to stay). If we get the deal done, great, if we can’t get the deal done, he might go,” Carr said.
“But at this point I’m hopeful he’s going to stay and that we can get the right deal across the line.”
Carr, of RCM, said suggestions Narkle could move to Richmond had no basis.
“It’s never been anything but positive with the Cats from the day I started managing Quinton,” Carr said.
“They’ve been terrific, the Cats.”
Narkle played 16 matches for Geelong this year, but started as the sub on several occasions and didn’t see any action in the Cats’ three finals.
He last year signed a one-year deal for the 2021 season.
