The player who could be affected by Coleman-Jones' arrival at North Melbourne

David King believes Callum Coleman-Jones’ imminent arrival at North Melbourne could have ramifications for Todd Goldstein’s role in the side.

Coleman-Jones had reportedly handed in a trade request, signalling his intention to join David Noble’s side on a long-term contract.

The 22-year-old played eight times this season and kicked 11 goals but leaves the club looking for more consistent game time.

King wonders when Goldstein’s role in the side will shift as a result of Coleman-Jones’ imminent arrival, or if they'd look to trade him if an opportunity arises.

“Does this have any ramifications for Todd Goldstein?” King questioned on SEN's The Picks.

“Say they offer him to Geelong or another club that’s right on the edge without a ruckman … I’m just asking the question.

“It’s the role they’ve never been able to fill.”

King said North Melbourne should prioritise playing Nick Larkey and Goldstein in the same forward line last year, with Coleman-Jones given the number one ruck mantle in Round 1.

“Todd (Goldstein) can play forward,” he said.

“It gives (Nick) Larkey a bit of a chop out and another tall target down there, he did some things this year which surprised a few people.

“I’m not saying he’s going to kick 40 plus goals because he’s not, but that’s not where the Kangaroos are at anyway.

“Do everything you can to get (Callum) Coleman-Jones and offer him the number one ruck role.

“Sometimes at this stage of your rebuild, you have to give a bit to get something so clearly it’s a good financial deal, if you’re going to leave a club that’s going to be a contender, you need to sure that you’re actually playing.”
