SEN Track: Saturday best bets at Gold Coast

2021-09-18T10:10+10:00

The Gold Coast is our venue for metropolitan racing in Queensland this afternoon where the track will be bathed in pink for Pink Ribbon Raceday. This will be the 14th year the Gold Coast Turf Club has linked up with the Pink Ribbon Foundation in what is a great initiative & huge fundraiser for breast cancer awareness.

On track we have Weona Smartone going for 7 straight, Miami Fleiss looking to make it 4 from 6 in the Pink Ribbon Cup & earlier in the day a couple of very smart types from the Gollan yard in Sugar Boom & The Move do battle in Race 4 over the 900m scamper.

The weather is fine & sunny with a forecast max of 25 degrees, needless to say the track is rated a Good (4).

BEST BETS

Race 4 # 2 SUGAR BOOM

Here’s the clash mentioned above, this super quick mare v The Move who is starting to now live up to the potential he’s promised from day one. I’m with Sugar Boom as I don’t see the other on pacers in the race being able to go with her early & therefore she won’t be annoyed & can slip into a nice rhythm.

Georgie Cartwright can kick her clear on the turn & I’m confident she’ll hold her rivals at bay down to the line. She loves the dry ground & has trialled very well winning under a strong hold in slick time at Doomben recently. Confident she’ll just be too speedy.

Race 8 # 2 MORETHANNUMBERONE

Poorly drawn however I’m sticking with him as his win here on Goldmarket Handicap Day was outstanding. Settling back off the pace in a race which was slowly run up front he certainly wasn’t entitled to weave through, loom & then come clear of his rivals late all when barely out of second gear.

Unlucky the start prior when posted wide throughout he should be unbeaten this prep & lining up for 4 straight wins this afternoon. I’m throwing the bad alley out the window & going with what my eyes have seen those past two runs.

Race 9 #2 RUN FOR GLORY

Tony Gollan & Leah Kilner combine here with this third up galloper who looks all set to land his first win of the prep this afternoon. Nice, solid return first up before just being nailed by Ballistic Boy second up at Doomben, we now know that form line is strong as Ballistic Boy scored again last Saturday.

Very well in after the 3kg claim, drawn to take up a prominent spot early & should be peaking. Plenty of ticks for this one!
