Port Adelaide ruck-forward Peter Ladhams could be on the move in the upcoming trade period.
According to The Herald Sun, the Power have encouraged Ladhams to explore his options if he wants more ruck minutes next year.
The 23-year-old is second choice to Scott Lycett in the ruck pecking order and behind Charlie Dixon, Mitch Georgiades and Todd Marshall for forward spots.
Port Adelaide champion Kane Cornes thinks Richmond would be a “natural fit” for Ladhams as a replacement for Mabior Chol.
Ladhams has one year left on a three-year deal he signed in 2019.
“That does give Port Adelaide a bit of leverage though, the fact that he’s contracted, they can refuse any trade offers,” Cornes said.
“Port Adelaide can play a little bit hardball. I don’t think they’ll be devastated if he stays, I think they’ll make it work.
“I think the club that he suits the best is Richmond. I think he’s perfect for Richmond. They’ve lost Mabior Chol who plays that exact role. I’m not sure whether Peter Ladhams can hold down a genuine ruck spot for 80 to 85 per cent of the game.
“Richmond feels like a good natural fit for him, but also the Western Bulldogs would be looking for a ruckman, I think Brisbane are on the market for a ruckman.
“There’ll be some interest, it’s just whether a deal comes across the table that Port Adelaide are willing to accept.
“I don’t know what he’s worth. Is he a late second-round pick?”
Ladhams has played 32 games since debuting for the Power in 2019.
He made 17 senior appearances in 2021, averaging 13.6 disposals, 13.5 hit-outs and just under a goal a game.
