Profiteer connections chasing expensive payday in Friday's Moir Stakes

2021-09-21T13:40+10:00

Mick Price will be chasing his third Moir Stakes win at The Valley on Friday night with promising colt Profiteer.

The three-year-old, to be ridden by Jye McNeil, is ready to set The Valley track alight after impressing on Monday morning.

“He was good, I wanted a solid hit out and he pulled up good, Jye has had about four goes on him and the horse is good,” Price said on SEN Track’s Bensley.

“If he was going in an average race anywhere, he’d win, but it is a Moir, it is a Group 1 but he’s had a good prep and he’s ready to go.

“He handles The Valley no worries.”

Winning the Moir Stakes could be worth millions for the ownership group of Profiteer after Newgate Farm secured the colt’s place at stud when his racing days are done.

“The job is to make him a Group 1 colt for stud, stud colts have got to win the stud colt races and the two of them being The Moir and The Coolmore particular and they’re the two that we’ll target in particular,” he added.

Profiteer is the current $3.20 favourite in front of last start winner The Inferno.
