New Blues coach Voss addresses Petrevski-Seton’s trade request

2021-09-23T16:09+10:00

New Carlton coach Michael Voss plans to hold talks with wantaway Blue Sam Petrevski-Seton after he requested a trade to West Coast.

The unsigned 23-year-old made just 11 senior appearances in 2021 and was deployed in an unfamiliar role across half-back by former Blues coach David Teague.

The Eagles currently holds picks 10, 29, 36, 49 and 65 in this year’s draft.

Voss, who was confirmed as Carlton’s new coach on Thursday, was asked whether he will sit down with Petrevski-Seton ahead of this year’s trade period, which commences Monday week.

“I hope so, yes” Voss told SEN’s Bob and Andy.

“I’m not fully up to speed with where all that’s at at the moment other than what I’ve read.

“I think it’s important to have a chat to see where he’s at, his desires, why he’d want to take the move that he’s proposing, and just have a bit of chat with him.

“Likewise anyone who we’re thinking about bringing in. It’s going to be an important couple of weeks.”

Voss says discussions with Carlton’s hierarchy have started over bringing in new assistant coaches.

The 46-year-old will also start reaching out to players next week.

“We started that today (discussing assistant coaches). It’s happening pretty quickly,” he said.

“I’ll spend the next little while firstly getting across the coaches that we need to bring in, so there’s a collective discussion around that.

“Obviously I’ve got to start to get my head around the list build and the upcoming trade period that will be on us before we know it.

“And then I guess next week for me is starting to reach out to the players and start to have a chat to them and get to know them a little bit more.”

Voss joined the Blues on a three-year deal.
